Paint Correction
Paint correction, also known as “buffing” or “polishing,” can help remove various visual defects such as scratching, swirling, scuffs, holograms and marring. There are 4 stages of paint correction. Stage 1 paint correction can generally fix up to 50% of paint imperfections whereas stage 2 paint correction will fix 80%+ correctable defects. Stage 3 is considered a multi step correction where our technicians will chase out any and all correctable defects for a 95%+ defect free finish. Stage 3 is generally only recommended for show cars or clients who demand the absolute best. Wet sanding, which is also involved in stage 3, is a process we only advise under certain circumstances to remove clear coat defects such as orange peel.
What it is
Have you ever seen what looks like spider webs on your car paint under the sun or a street lamp? Paint Correction can remove these various imperfections on the surface of your vehicle that are reflected back by light. This is done by using various techniques, tools and chemicals to smooth out the painted surfaces. This is a labor intensive process that requires experience, patience and attention to detail. The end result enhances the gloss effect and makes your vehicle’s paint look new.
Why it is Important
Paint correction is an important part of the process for protecting your vehicle’s paint. This is a process we advise to be performed before installing paint protection Majestic Ceramic.
Due to Majestic Ceramic covering up your clear coat, we advise only applying this protection when your clear coat is at its best to improve the end result. Majestic Ceramic, in select cases, can bring out small imperfections in the paint which we want to avoid.
How it works
This time consuming process begins with a decon, short for “decontamination.” This process is not a simple wash. It starts with a foam bath which helps the dirt and grime fall off the vehicle. Next is Iron Remover which bleeds all the fallout and metal particles stuck in the paint. Next is the clay bar. A skilled member of our team uses a clay bar to go over every inch of your vehicle to remove any contaminants that do not come off with regular washing. Next begins the actual paint correction techniques.

The paint correction process first begins with the correction. A microfiber cutting pad is used with a cutting compound alongside our professional-grade tools to remove 80%+ of the correctable defects. This is done by literally resurfacing the top level of the clear coat. The second step in a 2 stage paint correction is polishing to bring out the shine and gloss by removing hazing and enhancing the paint clarity. Imagine your clear coat being your kitchen window and your paint is the beautiful outdoors: if the window is dirty and opaque, your view of outside is affected. By refinishing the clear coat and increasing clarity, your paintwork will look clean and clear and POP with an enhance gloss effect.
